Felix Knüsel

Aargauer Kuratorium Residency

Felix Knüsel is a Swiss percusionist. From 1988 to 1991 Felix studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and at The Collective in New York, taking classes with Ian Froman, Gil Graham, Kim Plainfield, Fred Klatz, Frank Malabe and Pete Zeldman. During this time, Felix also played in various formations in the New York club scene and produced improvised music for the first time in the band Comic Book Opera.

In 1993, Felix founded the ensemble The Art of Rhythm together with the dancer and choreographer Gabi Rehra and the composer and instrumentalist Dieter Ammann. They developed several musical programmes between 1993 and 1997. In 1998 Felix recorded his first solo album Before I Go. In 2004 his second album Hit and Run was released with Adrian Zinniker, Dieter Ammann and Speedy G. Jossen. This project was also selected by the Aargau Cultural Foundation Pro Argovia for its funding programme.

Aargauer Kuratorium, Switzerland

Aargauer Kuratorium has worked in partnership with Acme to develop and provide a London-based artists' residency since 1999. Based in Bow, E3, the residency enables a wide spectrum of practitioners connected with the Canton of Aargau, Switzerland, to undertake two six month long work/live residencies per year. Artist application and selection are conducted directly by Aargauer Kuratorium.
